Carlisle Garden Club presents $1,000 to Craighead House
Carlisle Garden Club recently presented a $1,000 donation to Craighead House for use in their landscaping plan. Craighead House is a unique late-Victorian home located next to the Yellow Breeches Creek near Boiling Springs that has been preserved for use as an education center for nature, the environment and local history.

“We hope the plants will not only help beautify this historic landmark, but aid in the future native plant educational programs held at Craighead House,” said Rosemary Blaszuk, co-president of the Carlisle Garden Club.

Descendants of the Craighead family became well-known naturalists, including Frank Craighead, a pioneer environmentalist, his daughter, Newbery Award-winning author Jean Craighead George, and twin sons Frank Jr. and John, known for their study of falconry, their grizzly bear research and writing and promoting the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.
